Frequently asked questions about VW ID.7 leasing (FAQs)
How do I correctly estimate my mileage when switching to an electric car?
When estimating your mileage, it's worth adding a margin on top of your previous mileage. Many people switching over drive more than planned in the first year, simply because the quiet, responsive feel of an electric car invites you to get behind the wheel more often. Since the mileage figure determines the residual value calculation and a realistic figure avoids additional charges for excess mileage, it's better to calculate generously rather than too tightly.
Can I tow a trailer with the ID.7?
Yes, towing is possible. The ID.7 Tourer is optionally available with a tow bar and is designed for a braked towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg. If you can foresee that you will need a tow bar, it's best to factor it in when configuring your leased vehicle. With an already configured vehicle, clarify with your leasing partner in advance whether retrofitting is possible on that vehicle. Alternatively, you can opt for a used vehicle that already has a tow bar fitted.
Does the battery condition affect the end-of-contract settlement?
The end-of-contract settlement is based primarily on the vehicle's contractually agreed condition and the kilometres driven. It's best to have your partner dealer confirm in writing, before signing the contract, how a normal decline in battery capacity is assessed.
Can I switch to a different electric model at the end of the contract?
Yes, a switch at the end of the contract is possible. You return the previously leased vehicle to the dealer that delivered it, where you'll be advised on a vehicle exchange and a new contract. If you'd like to keep driving the ID.7, you can simply continue the contract.
