The Smart Driver app by Porsche Insurance records your driving style via GPS and recalculates your score each month. It is free of charge and only requires around 50 MB of memory on iOS devices and around 65 MB on Android devices. So it can easily be installed on all devices.
Open the app & register
After concluding the contract, you receive an invitation email from us with a personal TAN code. Please enter this together with your contract number (including the forward slash, e.g. 5123456/00001) when you register in the Smart Driver app.
Activate Bluetooth
In order for your journeys to apply for the premium reduction, there must be a Bluetooth connection to your vehicle. Journeys recorded via Bluetooth are marked with a small blue icon in the journey summary. In addition, the “automatic recording” ensures that journeys are automatically recorded and concluded. The automatic recording can be deactivated in “settings” at any time. The outdated manual recording function has been removed.
Drive considerately & obtain credit
Now it’s up to you. The more sustainably you drive, the sooner you’ll reach a high score. This means considerable cost savings for you and a significant contribution to safer traffic. A classic win-win situation.
The total score is calculated as follows:

The accounting transaction is carried out between the 10th and 15th calendar day of the following month. The credit is transferred directly to your account. For sums under 3 EUR, the amount is settled with the next pre-invoice.

Smart Driver ist eine App, die dein Fahrverhalten widerspiegelt und vorausschauendes Fahren fördert. Vorausschauendes Fahren bringt eine Reihe von Vorteilen, wie unter anderem die Reduktion des Unfallrisikos. Smart Driver unterstützt dich dabei, dich im täglichen Straßenverkehr sicherer zu bewegen. Smart Driver fördert dies durch Trophäen und Auszeichnungen. Kunden der Porsche Versicherungs AG können zusätzlich mit einem sicheren Fahrstil eine Gutschrift auf ihre Versicherungsprämie erhalten. Dabei bestimmt die Fahrweise die Höhe der Gutschrift.
Die Smart Driver App misst und bewertet mittels Telematikdaten (über das Mobiltelefon) das Fahrverhalten.
Die Verwendung der App ist für alle Teilnehmer kostenlos. Es können jedoch Gebühren seitens deines Mobilfunkanbieters für mobiles Datenvolumen anfallen.

Depending on the score you achieve, you will receive retroactive premium credit for the month in which you achieved the score.
There is the following discount on the monthly premium:

- Score: 81 - 85.00 points 5% discount
- Score: 86 - 90.00 points 10% discount

After signing the contract, you will receive an invitation letter from us with a personal TAN code. Please enter this TAN code together with your contract number (including slash, e.g. 5123456/00001) when registering in the SMART DRIVER app.
You will find your personal contract number on your policy / insurance certificate.
Please send us a request with your contract number to: info@smartdriver.at. You will then receive the invitation with the associated TAN by mail.
You can terminate participation at any time. By not using the app, your contract will continue as concluded.
Fragen zur Prämiengutschrift
Je nach erreichtem Score erhältst du für den Monat, in dem du den Score erreicht hast, eine rückwirkende Prämiengutschrift.
Es gibt auf die Monatsprämie folgenden Gutschriften je nach Punktestand:
- Score: 0 - 80 = 0%
- Score: 81 - 85 = 5%
- Score: 86 - 90 = 10%
- Score: 91 - 95 = 15%
- Score: 96 - 100 = 20%
Mit der Verwendung der Smart Driver App kannst du dir ausschließlich Gutschriften zur abgeschlossenen Prämie erfahren. Eine Erhöhung der Prämie oder eine sonstige Schlechterstellung aufgrund der Verwendung gibt es in keinem Fall.
Direkt in der Smart Driver App wird dir immer der aktuelle Status angezeigt unter „Prämiengutschriften“. Die Buchung wird zwischen dem 10. und 15. Kalendertag des Folgemonats durchgeführt. Die Gutschrift wird direkt auf dein Konto überwiesen. Bei Beträgen unter 3,00 EUR wird der Betrag mit der nächsten Vorschreibung gebucht.
Nach Buchung der Prämiengutschrift werden dir die Beträge neben den erreichten Scorewerten in der Smart Driver App angezeigt. Am Ende des Monats erhältst du eine Aufstellung der Scores sowie der gebuchten Gutschriften.
Folgende Kriterien sind für die Wertung eines Kalendermonats zu erfüllen:
Es müssen mindestens 5 Fahrten mit insgesamt mehr als 150 Kilometer innerhalb von 3 aktiven Wochen pro Monat aufgezeichnet werden.
Nein. Für den Erhalt der Prämiengutschriften reicht die Erfüllung der hierfür festgelegten Kriterien.
Die Anmeldung auf mehreren Geräten mit den gleichen Vertragsdaten ist nicht möglich. Zur Prämiengutschrift ist die App pro Versicherungsvertrag, auf einem Smartphone nutzbar. Bei Wechsel des Geräts, melde dich bitte an den Support und du bekommst einen neuen TAN Code.

What is SMART DRIVER?
SMART DRIVER is an app that reflects your driving behavior and promotes anticipatory driving. Predictive driving means a reduction in the risk of accidents. Smart Driver supports you in moving more safely in daily road traffic. SMART DRIVER promotes this through trophies and awards. Customers of Porsche Versicherungs AG can additionally determine the premium discount with their driving style.
How does SMART DRIVER work?
SMART DRIVER is an APP that uses telematics data (measured by the cell phone) to evaluate driving behavior.
How much does SMART DRIVER cost?
The use of the APP is free of charge for all participants. However, charges may apply for mobile data traffic.
Do I have to be a customer of Porsche Bank AG or Porsche Versicherungs AG?
To participate in the competition and collect trophies, you only need to use a vehicle registered in Austria. It is not necessary to be a customer of Porsche Bank AG or Porsche Versicherungs AG. However, to take advantage of the possibility of a hull premium reduction, you must be a customer of Porsche Bank AG or Porsche Versicherungs AG and have concluded a fully comprehensive or fully comprehensive plus contract with a direct debit order.
Can only private individuals use the app?
Participation in the competition is only possible for private individuals.
Where can I download the APP?
The APP is available for free download in the Apple APP Store or in the Google PlayStore.
With which smartphone can I use the APP?

Are there smartphones on which the APP does not work?
Depending on the model, there may be problems with smartphones of the "Huawei" brand when using or downloading. The reason for this is that the brand has been removed from the stores by Google and access to the apps has been blocked on new models.
How is the position determined?
The position is determined by means of the GPS signal from your cell phone.
How to start the recording of the journey?
To record your journey, Bluetooth must be turned on on your smartphone. The journey will then be recorded automatically. If Bluetooth connection is not possible on your smartphone, you have to start your journey manually. To do this, press the "Start journey" button.
How is the recording of the trip ended?
If the Bluetooth connection is active, the end of the trip is automatically detected and the trip is saved. If Bluetooth connection is not possible on your smartphone, you have to end your trip manually. To do this, press the "End journey" button. After finishing the journey, you have the option of assigning a name to the journey. If this is not done, the trip will be saved with the trip and date.
What happens if I lose my smartphone?
No problem: Simply download the app on another smartphone and log in with the mail address and password of your Smartdriver account. For security, if you lose your smartphone, you should change the access password to your account to prevent unauthorized access.
How can I change the password of my account?
You can change your password in the app under "My profile" and "Account".
I forgot my password, what should I do?
In the app, click on "Forgot your password?" in the login screen. You will then need to enter your mail address and will be emailed a link that will allow you to create a new password.
How can I change the email address?
To change the email address, click on "My profile" in the menu of the smartphone app and the specified email address. After that, please enter the new email address in the next window. In the browser version, you can make this change under the settings by clicking on "Change email" under "My account". The change must then still be confirmed in the inbox of the new address.
Who is the provider of the app through which my journeys are recorded?
The TELEMATIK app is provided by AMODO D.O.O., a company based in Croatia. The TELEMATIK app can use GPS to record your driving behavior and provide you with information about it.
How much storage/data volume is consumed by the SMART DRIVER app?
The app requires about 50 MB of storage space on iOS devices and about 65 MB on Android devices. The average active user requires about 5 MB per month to record trips or about 100 KB per recorded kilometer.
How much battery power is consumed by the TELEMATIK app?
The exact battery consumption is difficult to determine. Apps with GPS usage usually have higher battery consumption and also the ride data determination is a computationally intensive process. For longer journeys, we therefore recommend using a charger in the vehicle.
What does Scoring Model mean?
The scoring model evaluates your driving behavior and awards points for it. 100 points are the possible best value. This is achieved if none of the evaluation parameters is exceeded.
Which parameters are used for the evaluation?
- Adherence to the maximum permitted speed (outside Austria 130km/h is the maximum speed)
- Strong acceleration
- Strong braking maneuvers
- Time of day
- Road type
- High cornering speed
- Time of day

How is the total score calculated?
The total score is calculated from the various measurement parameters, with compliance with the maximum permissible speed having the greatest influence.
Can I report if a score is not correct?
In order to increase the quality of the measurements, we are grateful for any feedback. We pass on every report to the operator of the APP in order to achieve continuous improvement. The score itself will only be changed retroactively if an error is clearly detected.
What does collecting trophies mean?
These are "mini competitions". Based on fulfilled criteria you will receive small prizes. You can always see the respective criteria in the corresponding ICON. The trophies are a prerequisite for participating in challenges.
What prizes are there to win?
There are different prizes to win, from fuel vouchers to cash.
How many rides do I have to record for a trophy?
Depending on the amount of the prize to be won, you have to record different numbers of trips or cover distances with a certain score.
At what point does a ride count towards a trophy?
For a ride to count towards a trophy, a minimum distance of 2 km must be covered.
Can employees participate?
Employees can participate, but they are not entitled to the prizes of the challenges.
Für die Aufzeichnung deiner Fahrt muss Bluetooth auf deinem Smartphone eingeschalten und mit dem versicherten Fahrzeug verbunden werden. Die Fahrt wird dann automatisch aufgezeichnet.
Die Beendigung einer Fahrt wird automatisch erkannt.
Wenn alle Berechtigungen erteilt sind, sollte die Fahrterkennung automatisch funktionieren, sobald eine regelmäßige Bewegung von über 20 km/h festgestellt wird.
Folgende Hindernisse könnten die Fahrterkennung blockieren:
Grundsätzlich kann eine Fahrterkennung durch Stau oder Ampelstandzeiten manchmal etwas länger dauern. Dies gilt auch wenn das GPS-Signal gestört ist. Das hängt davon ab, wo das Smartphone während der Fahrt liegt. Am sichersten ist aus unserer Erfahrung eine Handyhalterung an der Frontscheibe oder in der Mittelkonsole des Fahrzeugs. In der Hosentasche oder Handtasche wird das GPS-Signal manchmal unterbrochen. Zudem sollte das Handy fest verstaut sein, damit es während der Fahrt nicht verrutschen kann. Ein Verlust des GPS-Signals kann auch zu fehlenden Streckenaufzeichnungen führen.
Das Kartenmaterial, welches die Geschwindigkeitsbeschränkungen enthält, wird von einem Drittanbieter zur Verfügung gestellt und laufend aktualisiert. Abweichungen zwischen dem von uns verwendeten Kartenmaterial und den tatsächlichen Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzungen können daher nicht ausgeschlossen werden. Eine lückenlose digitale Erfassung mit allen variablen Begrenzungen (IG-L, VSL, ATM,..) gibt es noch nicht flächendeckend.
Unser Scoring Modell beachtet den Umstand, dass es im Verlauf der Nutzungsdauer zu positiven sowie negativen Abweichungen kommen kann, bereits und stellt deswegen trotzdem ein faires Bewertungsverfahren für alle Nutzer sicher.
Nein, die App kann nur erkennen, dass eine Fahrt getätigt wird. Bist du mit Bluetooth mit dem Fahrzeug verbunden, wird diese Fahrt zu deinem Score gewertet, auch wenn du nicht am Steuer sitzt.
Kein Problem: Lade dir die Smart Driver App einfach auf einem anderen Smartphone herunter und logge dich mit der Mail-Adresse und dem Passwort deines Smartdriver-Accounts ein. Zur Sicherheit solltest du bei Verlust deines Smartphones das Zugangspasswort zu deinem Account ändern, um fremdem Zugriff vorzubeugen.
In der App kannst du dein Passwort unter "Mehr" > „Profil“ > "Daten bearbeiten" ändern.
Klicke in der App im Anmelde-Bildschirm auf "Passwort vergessen?". Anschließend musst du deine E-Mail-Adresse eingeben und bekommst per E-Mail einen Link zugesendet, der es dir ermöglicht, ein neues Passwort zu erstellen.
Um die E-Mail-Adresse zu ändern, klicke im Menü der App auf "Mehr" > „Profil“ > „Daten bearbeiten“. Es öffnet sich ein neues Fenster. Hier kannst du unter „Persönliche Daten“ die angegebene E-Mail-Adresse auswählen, bearbeiten und speichern. Die Änderung muss anschließend noch im Posteingang der neuen Adresse bestätigt werden.
Die Telematik-App wird von Dolphin Technologies GmbH, einem Unternehmen mit Sitz in Österreich, zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Telematik-App kann über GPS dein Fahrverhalten aufzeichnen und dir Informationen darüber geben.
Die App benötigt rund 50 MB auf iOS- und rund 65 MB Speicherplatz auf Android-Geräten. Der durchschnittliche aktive Nutzer benötigt ungefähr 5 MB pro Monat für das Aufzeichnen der Fahrten bzw. ungefähr 100 KB pro aufgezeichnetem Kilometer.
Der exakte Akkuverbrauch ist schwer zu bestimmen. Apps mit GPS-Nutzung haben meist einen erhöhten Akkuverbrauch und auch die Fahrdatenermittlung ist ein rechenintensiver Prozess. Bei längeren Fahrten empfehlen wir daher den Einsatz eines Ladegerätes im Fahrzeug.
Um das Konto zu löschen, klicke im Menü der App auf „Mehr“ > „Profil“ > „Profil löschen“. Es öffnet sich ein Pop-up-Fenster. Hier mit „OK“ die Löschung bestätigen.
Fragen zur Bewertung des Fahrverhaltens
Das Scoring Modell bewertet dein Fahrverhalten und vergibt Punkte hierfür. 100 Punkte sind der mögliche Bestwert. Diesen erreicht man, wenn keiner der Bewertungsparameter überschritten wird.
- Einhaltung der höchstzulässigen Geschwindigkeit (außerhalb Österreichs gilt 130km/h als Maximalgeschwindigkeit)
- Starke Beschleunigung
- Starke Bremsmanöver
- Handynutzung (Telefonieren / Swipe&Type)
- Hohe Kurvengeschwindigkeit
Die Bewertung und Berechnung des Gesamtscores setzt sich aus den oben genannten Parametern zusammen, wobei die Einhaltung der höchstzulässigen Geschwindigkeit die höchste Gewichtung hat.
Um die Qualität der Messungen zu erhöhen, sind wir um jedes Feedback dankbar. Wir geben jede Meldung an den Betreiber der App weiter, um eine stetige Verbesserung zu erreichen. Der Score selbst wird nur bei eindeutiger Feststellung eines Fehlers rückwirkend geändert.
Fragen zu den Wettbewerben und Gewinnen
Wettbewerbe sind monatliche Aufgaben, sogenannte Challenges, die einen Bezug zum Fahrverhalten haben. Jede Challenge steht unter einem anderen Motto und verlangt die Erfüllung bestimmter, definierter Kriterien, die in der Smart Driver App nachzulesen sind.
Die Teilnahme an einer Challenge erfolgt durch das aktive Drücken eines „Teilnahme“ Buttons in der App durch den User. Unter allen Fahrer*innen, die die notwendigen Ziele der jeweiligen Monats-Challenge erreichen werden, die für diesen Monat definierten Preise verlost.
Die Teilnahme an den monatlichen Wettbewerben ist freiwillig und steht in keiner Verbindung mit dem Erhalt der Prämiengutschrift.
Die Bedingungen der Wettbewerbe wechseln monatlich. Die Kriterien sind direkt in der Smart Driver App unter „Wettbewerbe“ zu finden.
